Nutty Buddy

I want to thank all the people who sent their well wishes, prayers, and donated to the MTGRR to help pay for my expensive veterinary care. I am on my way to a full recuperation. I know it is going to take a little time, and lots of medication. If I could just omit that denamarin (for my liver). But, that is probably the most important medication in my medication regiment. I can't say why I don't like that particular medication. I just don't! I keep thinking foster mom will give up and let it slide, at least once. She seems to be more stubborn than me. I still have to return to the veterinarian for follow-ups on my blood. Thank you MTGRR for investing so much to keep me alive! All I can do to repay you, is to promise to be the best dog I can be. I hope more people can send donations to help cover the cost of keeping me alive and healthy. The link is located in the blog below. And guess what! It's tax deductible!
Look at this physique I'm getting back. Foster mom and dad say I'm quite handsome again. We are going to the beach in California. I'm going to strut my handsome self up and down the beach. I bet those California dogs are going to eat their hearts out, just like Meadow does. She sneaks me kisses a lot. Don't tell any of those other dogs, but I like Meadow's kisses. I think she was pretty worried about me for a while too!
There was a pretty long period of time that I didn't feel like eating. But, that is starting to change now. I'm eating dog food! I must have been out of my mind eating cat food! Well, I'm much better now.
I will post my vacation pictures periodically. Boy! Am I glad I got better in time for this trip! I would have hated to miss vacationing with my girlfriend. Oooops! Did I say girlfriend? I mean, ahem, Meadow.

Life is not always golden for us

Heat pack to help my aching muscles
I'm Buddy Holly. My foster's like to call me Nutty Buddy. But, I'm not feeling very nutty at the moment. I know my foster's and everyone at the Middle Tennessee Golden Retriever Rescue is worried about me. When I came to the rescue, they had me checked out by a vet. Even though I seemed healthy, the vet said the lab results came back and I am heartworm positive. That means I have to go through a treatment to kill them. This is AWFUL! First I spend two nights at the vet (away from my peeps). I get a shot the first day, way down deep in my muscle. It feels like I've been kicked by a horse! Then what happens the second day!? The vet does the same thing on my other side. I am feeling old before my time!
I am one sick puppy!
Most dogs don't get as sick as me after the treatment. But, let me tell you, this is no golden moment. I am so lucky to have been surrendered to the Middle Tennessee Golden Retriever Rescue. They are paying for all my medical care. I overheard someone say, "This isn't cheap." I guess they believe I am worth it. I know my foster's feel I'm worth it. I don't know if my previous family couldn't afford the prevention medicine, didn't think I was worth it, or thought their dog wouldn't get heartworm. But, here I am, fighting for my life, so everyone will know Buddy IS worth it!
Heartworms
This is what those nasty heartworms look like. Would you take a pill once a month to make sure this wouldn't happen to you. I sure wish I was given that pill.  As you can see by my face, once we get heartworms, the treatment can be risky. And, it can be very expensive (Oh, don't I know, now). But, if I hadn't recieved the treatment, my life would have definately been cut short. I wouldn't get to act nutty anymore.
If you don't think this can happen to your dog, just look at the map below. This map shows the incidents (detected) in 2007. The more dogs who don't get the monthly pereventative, the more likely we are to harbour these worms. Do you feel lucky? I sure don't (except for having been delivered to the Middle Tennessee Golden Retriever Rescue). Thank YOU MTGRR! I hope I can pull through this, and make you proud.

Throwing caution to the wind!
Some days just are not fit for a dog. But, this is certainly not one of those days!  Is this what is meant by the dog days of summer? If so, throw caution to the wind, and jump in!

Not only can I fetch a toy. I can fetch your heart.
Confucius says, "Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart."
Hey kids, always swim with a Buddy. It's more fun anyway.

That Confucius guy and I have like minds.

I'm the Nutty Buddy (aka Buddy Holly)

I'm waiting for that person who can throw caution to the wind, and go with all their heart. Are you that someone?

I'm not a Golden, but.....

Hi Friends,

You may be wondering what a dog like me is doing posting on a Golden Retriever blog.  Well, as you know Goldens are very friendly and loving dogs, and I owe them a huge thank you for helping me right now.  I am in a really hard situation, but the Goldens at MTGRR said I could use their website and blog to try to find a family. They call me a courtesy posting.

I, Junior, am a husky mix.  I am fluffy, and happy, and have been to the vet who says I am healthy.  I live at a house in Sumner County right now. The weird thing is, no people live in the house that I live at.  The lady that used to be my person just up and left one day.  I heard from the nice neighbor lady who is feeding me that she went to some place called Michigan.  My neighbor lady is my friend.  She's the closest thing to a foster that I have, but she said she can't really be my foster mom, she can only take care of me till the bank says that I have to leave my house.  I'm scared.  This is the only house that I have ever known, and if the bank takes it away before I have a forever home animal control is going to pick me up.

If you can be my forever home I promise to be the best dog for you.  I will love and adore you, and be your best friend.  I just love being with people, and I really miss not having a person to love me anymore.  I desperately want a new mom or dad (or both!).  To find out more about me, you can call my friend Kristy.  Her phone number is 615-478-1060, or you can email her at ma.paws@yahoo.com.  Here's a picture of me, so you don't forget me.  I only have a couple of weeks left, so please call or email Kristy as soon as you can.

World's Best Looking Best Body & Best Shape Golden Age Golden

I'm not shy you know.....just in case you missed how GORGEOUS I am in my last post....I'll give you a close up view of true Fabulousness!
Seriously.....who can compete with this beautiful face?

Come meet me....I may approve of you....and love you for a long time.....I'm worth it.

Muah!  Stella Zella with Her Groove On

How Stella Got Her Groove

Oh what a month!  I have had the best time playing with my foster brothers and sister (except that chihuahua Thor!) and I'm excited about the coming summer.  I've been used to being in a one dog family for my whole life that it is totally strange to be sharing with my foster dogs Zeus, Zoro, Zena.....and yeah....that flea bag Thor....idiot Chihuahua.  It has been a TON OF FUN....but I'm wanting a family of my own....all to myself....maybe a couple of others....but NO THOR!!!
Actually.....me and the Chihuahua have a thing going....he's so used to bossing all his brothers and sisters around.....I decided to teach him the meaning of "Tag...your toast" last week.  It's real simple....he pulls out his "I'm so cute and hot and you can't catch me routine" which includes bouncing all around and on top of me...trying to KISS ME...ewww...Chihuahua breath.  He thought he was so fast....I learned watching him play with the others....I let him get going....let him think he's never going to be spanked.....er, I mean....caught.....and when he gets into my target zone and pounces.....I just lift a paw and pin him flat and pretend I'm allowed to eat him.  So far....my Foster parents haven't given me permission to try BBQ Thor....but here's to hoping.....because the idiot thinks its a game.  Oh well....I have taught him how to hunt moles and I think there is hope for him.  But......PUHLEEZE give me a break!

I'm a fabulous, loving, tail wagging, talking when you tickle my right spots.....golden gal who is ready to pour all her love and affections on my new forever family.  I don't require 2 mile hikes.....just a fenced back yard to do my thing.  I'm not into jumping around or tearing things up.....that got old in my teen years.  I want to lie at my new family's feet.....wag my tail.....play a little tug of war.....and if you want some moles terminated....well....I'm the best mole hunter in the world!!!   Come get me.....I need you.....if I run out of moles here....I just might BBQ the chihuahua!!!!!

Love,
Stella Zella
